One of the foundations of capitalism is deconstruction and its application to natural resources. Using this perspective one would assume that the environment is a tool that should be manipulated for the sake of progress, and idea that was shared by both Karl Marx, the author of The Communist Manifesto, and Adam Smith. While this aided in increasing standard of living and innovation, natural resources have a limit and the consequences are beginning to leave a mark.
