Why is the acceptance of truth so important for us? Because accepting the truth means we are ready to know or obtain deeper knowledge of truth that leads us into a reality. Hence, we will be ready to face a reality, even though, we do not know how a true reality will look like or whether a true reality will always bring a good impact to us. For example, we all have a clear idea in our mind that all human beings are mortal. All of us will die someday. However, sometimes we deny the truth and do not accept the reality because we are still in our great grievances of losing someone. We are not ready to face a true reality yet, until we realize we need to abstract our senses in order to gain knowledge of a true reality. In the film, Neo lives in a world which is controlled by the Matrix while Plato’s prisoner lives in a cave, controlled by the puppeteers. They both have successfully managed to escape from their own view of reality as they know it and search for the reality as it really is. Then, I came up with some ideas by comparing both stories in order to achieve a true reality. First is to escape from our own view of reality. Secondly, we must accept the truth of a reality and face the reality wisely. At last, we have to be open for new changes and learn from everything that comes across in our lives. In the end all of these stories brings into the question of the world we know. Do we really know the world we live in or is it a false reality. How do we know that the smell is from a fresh apple pie or is it something inputted for us? I will and have to believe that the reality that I perceive is true.
