This vicious act made thousands of people lose their freedom, or worse, their lives. During the Age of Imperialism, slavery was happening everywhere; even the United States. However, after this time period slavery was abolished so during World Wars 1 and 2 there were no labor slaves in North America. Unfortunately, slavery was still prominent in the rest of the world during the 1st and 2nd World War. Although it was the act of forced labor seemed to have died down during WW1, it gained popularity again in Asia and with German Nazis in WW2. Jewish people were forced to do extremely laborious jobs like farming, building and factory work for long periods of time with little food or rest. Slave traders not only captured strong men in Africa, but also women as well. Women made clothes, harvest crops and did countless jobs inside the house. Unfortunately, just like women in future time periods, they were physically, verbally and sexually abused. Not only were women expected to do domestic care like the slaves during the Age of Imperialism, once the men went off to war they were forced to also take on the responsibilities of the man. Those weren’t even the unlucky ones; some were forced into prostitution or marriage to men they did not even know. Then, they were considered slaves to the men that married them. Similar to the past, more and more women are forced into slavery.
