This article goes into detail about alcohol on college campuses. The study uses a survey that was sent to students either over the web or mailed to them. The students where then asked questions about their drinking habits on campus. The survey asked for about how many drinks where consumed before, during and after certain situations. These situations were “fraternity or sorority party, residence hall party, campus event (e.g. football game), off-campus party, bar/restaurant and outdoor setting (referent).” (Paschall, M. Although it does not argue the side of fan behavior, it does show the many benefits that could come from allowing alcohol at a college sporting event. It helps the side for allowing alcohol to be sold at college sporting events because it shows that the benefits of allowing it can be very good. Allowing the drinking at the game may help reduce the pre-game drinking that is done and also makes sure everyone legal is buying the alcohol. The article also explains ways that could help with fan management by having non-alcohol sections in the stadium. This article as changed the way I think about the alcohol being allowed at college sporting events. Although there is no facts about what the fan behavior is, there are ways to make sure dysfunctional fans are either moved or kicked out of the game. Although the violent actions did not take place at a college event, not all fans that go to a college sport are college students. This article explains that the alcohol is a reason of why the behavior of some fans turns violent. The author does show some bias feelings towards the end of banning alcohol at sporting events to help fan behavior. Though the information is fact and can be seen as objective, there are no details that would support allowing alcohol at a sporting event discussed thus showing that the author may have the bias thought that it should be banned. The information can be seen as reliable as well because it mostly contains facts about certain cases involving fans at a sporting event being attacked by another fan that was under the influence of alcohol.
