Even though I might be talking to a friend, when I receive a notification on my phone, I abruptly pause the conversation and direct all of my attention to my phone. Most of the times, the notification isn’t important and can wait; it is rarely more important than the conversation I am having with the friend. Somehow, I have become so attached to my phone that I have begun to prioritize my phone over my friends. I have come to realize that this behavior is extremely impolite and deters interpersonal connection between my and my friends. Through this assignment, I have learned the things I do well and the few things I can improve on when interacting with others. I have become much more aware of my habitual behaviors of being distracted in a conversations and understood how it leads to a disconnect between the speaker and I. Through the intentional experiment I was required to conduct, I now know how productive and stimulating a conversation can be when every one is fully invested. I intend on incorporating more of these intentional experiments in my daily life until it becomes a part of
