As the saying goes, “A picture is worth a thousand words”, a notion that a picture or an image can have complex meanings or ideas. A picture can tell a story by itself, depending on what you can see or understand about it. For example, a picture of the time you went for a holiday in a specific country can evoke a memory of when and where you took the picture, or about an event that was happening when you took the photo. The purpose of a picture or in this case a photo is to capture a moment in time since nothing happens for a second time. When analysing a photo, the first question everyone would ask themselves is ‘What are the distinctive features of the picture?’. This question must be answered first before asking any other questions, I myself can’t answer any questions about a picture when I have not even seen it once. …show more content…
From a glance, anyone can see a picture of two hanged men with a crowd surrounding them. Those are the two characters that stand out the most. I now have short basis of what the picture is about. This answers the first question. Following my primary observation, I would then ask myself a second question; “What are the less noticeable details of the photo?”. There is a man smiling in the picture, a middle-aged man pointing at the corpse and many other people of varying ages, the two corpses which are bloodied and the ropes used for the hanging.
