Rodríguez de Silva y Velázquez was the leading artist for the Spanish Golden Age. He died on August 6, 1660 in Madrid,Spain. Even though he was known for his realism paintings. He was born October 25, 1881 in , Málaga, Spain. He died April 8, 1973 in Mougins, France. Pablo Picasso was well known for his cubism. He was influenced by many great artist and one of them just happened to be the one and only Diego Velázquez. He did a representation of Las Meninas with his style of cubism, while Velázquez used his style of realism. When Picasso uses cubism he uses very obvious sharp shapes in the painting. So, for example he wouldn't draw a human body the same as Velázquez would. Picasso would use rectangles and squares, all the shapes may vary. By what I could see in the picture Picasso was trying to portray the princess as the main part of the painting, and one small waiter person. I think Pablo did this on purpose so that the princess would stand out more than the waiters. And as you can see Pablo also used cubism which he is famous for.
