The author is of the view that although immigration has several advantages, however, the immigration system needs to be reformed. The premises he uses to support his conclusion are that, the immigrants, who came under the old immigration policy system are not as successful as local Canadians because they are not young enough, their credentials are not recognized in Canada, their language skills are lack luster and in some cases they are not adaptable.
To solve these problems, the author argues that immigration policy needs to be amended in a way that brings in younger, more skilled and adaptable immigrants.

The author, then, goes on the proposed changes to solve the above problems. Some of the key factors introduced in the article are as follows:
Redistributing age points to encourage immigration of younger immigrants:
Researches show that Canadian workforce mainly consists of retiring baby boomers and most of the immigrants who have come to Canada are above 35 years of age. This ageing population will one day be a burden on Canadian economy because they have to be facilitated with the old age benefits, healthcare and living expenses. According to Begin, Goyette and Riddle (2010), the immigrants who are 30 years or younger have more potential to be succeeded in the Canadian workplace, they have more opportunities to learn, adapt and be integrate with the Canadian system (Nadeau, 2011).
If the policy makers change the policy and grant immigration to the younger people aged 18 to 25, under skilled category, not only they will contribute to country’s economy but will also be capable to take the Canada’s current GDP much higher in the next few …show more content…
Why is it so? Because as already discussed that a huge proportion of immigrants have passed their young age, and major part of their working phase has already been spent in their homeland. Although they have more experience in their fields but that experience have only been used to grant them skilled points. Due to Canada’s diverse nature means that it’s culture, education and workplace, is totally different than other countries which is why previous experience and education doesn’t serve them well to be a part of their area of expertise in the Canadian workplace. Hence they end up doing odd jobs for the survival. Those work experience points need to be reallocated to the language proficiency points so that the immigrants don’t have to scratch the surface from the very beginning and they have at least language privilege on others which can leads to new directions for the new immigrants.
Introducing Arranged employment offer (AEO) to the system:
According to Begin, Goyette and Riddle (2010), Arranged employment offer at the time of landing is an asset for the new immigrants. Which means that they have something to start. After once year after landing here, FSWs have roughly 74% more than those who didn’t have a pre-arranged employment.
AEO should be encouraged so that immigrants don’t have to spend time to find a suitable job at the time of arrival, which is
