Suicide and Its Effect on Others Suicide is a very serious matter, and is a topic that one should not simply let go in one ear and out the other. The subject of suicide should not be taken lightly no matter what the context involved or what situation it is mentioned in. Simply because, most people who commit suicide often do not show any reason for concern or warning signs. Others may reach out, but not directly say they are the one contemplating taking their own life. A person who may be thinking about attempting suicide may suggest that they are asking for someone other than themselves. Suicide is never the answer to any problem or disease, no matter how big, small, or serious. It merely passes the burden and heartache down to those who love and care about the individual who ended their own life. This permanent solution to a temporary problem often leaves loved ones to go through the many stages of grief that follow. This process is mentioned in Suicide – family and friends “Feelings of grief, anger, guilt, betrayal, and relief are normal reactions”.
