Augustus reigned from 27 BC—AD 14. Has been called one of the most important figures in Rome’s History. Augustus means first citizen and the father of one’s country, which shows the type of impact Augustus had on Western Civilization. One of Augustus greatest accomplishments was being the founder of the Pax Romania which means “peace in Rome”. This continued for two centuries and created much prosperity. He was a big advocate for democracy. Alexander did much for Greece as he spread their culture throughout Europe. He had great military skill and conquered the Persian Empire. Phillip put Alexander in charge of his Calvary. He supported cultural diffusion and respected all religions and cultures. At only 20 years of age Alexander was considered a prodigy. He reigned for 14 years, before his death he was on the verge of conquering the mederteranian. One of his biggest impacts on Western Civilization was he helped to create Hellenistic culture. He was the main reason for this spreading throughout the western world. This also had a hand in bringing Christianity to the Middle East. The romans were able to push this even further and spread it throughout Europe. Alexander’s conquest destroyed the classical Greek civilization. This lead to new ideas of the Sophists and Epicureans that have become a part of our cultural heritage.
