Important reason to promote women is to empower the level of gender equality and also to show that women also have the same intelligent mindset to lead corporations (Kamla, 2011). Another factor to consider is the amount effort that women to put in. Colby mentions about work-life balance on Wall Street, which is nearly impossible to balance. Women deserve to be treated the same as men because they work as hard and insert high effort into the job. One of the theories being applied from class is the people’s perception of gender equality. In this particular situation, men’s perception says that women are dependent on them because they carry most valued position in society while women are stuck in the dissatisfying jobs. I would have added a chart to show the trend on how gender discrimination has been part of Wall Street for many years. Also, adding more examples of women from Wall Street would have made a stronger case against gender inequality. Overall, gender discrimination is going to be part of our lives unless the right actions are taken to change the people’s perception. It is important to treat women and men as the same because it would improve the environment within the firms and also create a diverse workplace. In the end, gender equality is benefiting the firms because it will increase productivity, profits and reduce salary
