are the sole contributors to the increasing prevalence in the incidences of certain types of abuse, unfair exclusionary practices, displays of hatred and bigottry, or US kids failing to meet national criteria for educational standards. I don't even know that I think that they are, collectively, the primary causes of these issues, let alone individually. So I don't think it's as simple as "she doesn't even care about her kids: she just leaves them at daycare all day so she can work" , or "Yeah, well if he would get off of the couch, and do something constructive, maybe she could be more hands on with their children". I think it goes so much deeper than all that. I think people have become so narsisistic and lax in their values, that the apathy, which I believe is the true root cause of nearly all these problems, has all but destroyed any semblance of dignified living. No one wants to self-sacrifice. People are too afraid of a little hard work. So, I believe regardless of the original purpose behind it, a man or woman can fulfill what I and many would consider their "responsibilities", regardless of if they are doing it from the home or an office desk. That's not to say that there are not frequently issues and established patterns of behavior that are completely unnacceptable and worthy of immediate intervention. But there are unfortunately many instances where perhaps well- meaning representatives allow the affair to degrade into a mudslinging debacle resembling kindergarteners on a playground saying "Boys are icky", and "Girls have cooties". Addressing any one of those issues is probably goiing to amount to a short-term "band aid" fix, at best. You're just treating "symptoms". Cure, or better yet, prevent, the "disease" from occuring in the first place, and one will likely increase their odds of success and imparting real lasting change. I don't pretend to be an expert on ANY of these issues, or to know how to best address them. But I don't need to to be able to see what's being done isn't
