They valued a friendly relationship with the Natives, because they understood the positive effects it would have on their economic goals for the fur trade and their search for gold. The French didn’t make the Natives slaves or steal their land; they won the affection of the Indians and benefited largely from their positive relationship by creating honest wealth and long lasting relationships.
