The colors of the figures are complimentary colors; colors across from each other on the color wheel are combined to make the color brown. Also, the models contain little pieces of the other figures key colors. In the red figure there are hints of yellow and blue as well as green that can be found in the green model as well. The texture of this painting is very important. This painting was created by using a thick pallet knife. Large swipes covered the canvas and the edges of the knife were used to illustrate allusions in the darkness; The green rock in front of the stools of light that the figures are sitting on is one and the waterfall flowing beside the green model is the other allusion.

The artwork was created from assignment to paint two live figures in an abstract manner using the Knife for the first time. At the time I was creating this piece I was playing a horror video game online, which was named “IB”, that displayed an evil art museum when the character of the game fell into the painting that had the word “abyss” in the title. I was inspired to create a similar tone from the game along with the textures.
