According to the researchers, any and every fetus will be effected by smoking, therefore the study would have been more effective had they expanded their test subjects. Another flaw in the research process, is the actual foundational data that was used to guide the research. The interviewing process was not properly implemented. To begin with, the interview relies on mere word of mouth of the parents and children. Simply relying on an individual’s memory of events that occurred years ago should not be heavily considered. Also, the interview process excluded the entire section of the children under the age of 12. Unfortunately, the flawed fundamental approach of the researchers proved to overshadow the presented argument.
Secondly, the researches failed to expand further on the basic information that helped establish their hypothesis. For example, by neglecting to inform the readers on the effects of second hand smoke and third hand smoke, the research team left many questions unanswered.
