As you get older, there are “passing points” that you have to accomplish in order transition into adulthood. However, all of these points don’t happen at once. They start when you are young and start doing simple chores around the house like sweeping the floor and washing the dishes. Once you can complete those tasks with ease, you are given more work to do and the cycle continues. Eventually, when you are an older child, more decision making and conversational skills are added into the mix. As I begin to transition into adulthood, I realize where some of my passing points were on my road to being considered an adult. The first point I remember is when I was finally allowed to drive the truck around our land by myself. When I was eight or nine, I learned how to drive. Of course, this was just in an empty field, never surpassing ten miles per hour. Dad would take me out to practice every once and awhile, but at this point I never dreamed of driving by myself. When I was eleven, I was allowed to drive the truck to pick up barrels and move rocks. However, I was never supposed to drive the truck without asking and one of my parents always had to be home. It was at this point that I wanted more freedom with driving. Although, that…
The sixteenth photo I had taken is a photo of a book by the title of “The Tipping Point” by Malcolm Gladwell. The reason why I have chosen this photo is because the book has taught me that the little things around us can make a big difference. The seventeenth photo I had taken is a photo of a book called Nickel and Dimed by Barbara Ehrenreich. The reason why I have chosen this photo is because it shows how many people who live in the U.S work full-time are receiving poverty- level wages and the…
In this essay the main topic is going to be the turning points in three different stories. A turning point is when something or something comes to a sudden change. For example, for my birthday my uncle gave me some money for whatever I wanted to buy and I was happy that what he gave me. One reason that someone's life can change is by receiving a gift. For example, in “An American Childhood” Annie Dillard gets a microscope for christmas and when she is playing around with it she finds the…
My first time at Cedar Point It was June 6th, 2016, the end of my eighth-grade year at TKMS, I woke up, at 5:30, jumped out of bed, got dressed, ate, and yelled at my mom to get in the car, all by 6:20. But of course we weren’t even close to ready, and we didn’t even need to leave until 7:30. So after reluctantly going back inside, to pack a spare pair of clothes, sunscreen, and our tickets (which we almost forgot), we were finally ready to go and it was already 7:40, “MOM!!!” I yelled…
McMahon’s Point Summary McMahon's Point is a serene haven that feels far away from hectic city life of the CBD and its neighbouring suburbs. North Sydney towers behind McMahon's Point as a backdrop, while it faces the beauty of Sydney Harbour. This special and unique suburb is surrounded by beauty as much as it is beautiful on the inside. The property…
The data from the table above indicates the melting points of pure myristic acid/trimyristin, and a 50:50 mixture of both substances. Those values can be compared to those in the literature to determine the purity of the substances, and to determine if myristic acid was synthesized. The ideal melting point of the pure trimyristin is 56-58°. The measured value of its melting point was 53-56°C. This melting point is very close to that of the literature value. The ideal melting point of the…
During the Civil War times, New York was full of many slums, including Five Points in Manhattan. It was full of gangs, crimes and several bars. What changes would wilson's fourteen points have made in a way European nations and the U.S conducted their affairs? Why would these ideas lead to greater peace and security? I. Open covenants of peace, openly arrived at, after which there shall be no private international understandings of any kind but diplomacy shall proceed always frankly and in the public view. II. Absolute freedom of navigation upon the seas, outside territorial waters, alike in peace and in war, except as the seas may be…
The world we currently live in is based on an amalgamation of ideas, where some achieve exponential success whilst others fade into obscurity. Malcolm Gladwell, through his book “Tipping Point” addresses the magic moment when these ideas cross the threshold and spread like wildfire (Gladwell, Preface). Moreover, he asserts that there are a number of factors that are at play in virtually every influential trend, ranging from the rise and decline of Airwalk shoes to an alarming escalation in…
The freezing point of the cyclohexanol was about 17.7°C, and the freezing point for the unknown solute mixed into the cyclohexanol was about 6.2°C. So the approximate change in temperature of the two freezing points was about 11.5°C. With this calculated information, the found molar mass of the unknown solute B was about 278.4g/mol, which is close to given molar mass of octadecanol. Conclusion- This lab allowed us to determine the molar mass of the unknown solute B by finding the difference in…
