"My Epic Hero" Every hero has had a life changing situation that has well, changed their life and created the type of person they are now. Whether it was a fight they lost, or won or someone they defeated or a journey it turned their whole life around. Their perspective on life was no longer the same. That is exactly what happened to the Greek hero Odysseus. Odysseus was not always a hero. He was just like any other commoner, he lived with his wife Penelope, and son Telemachos. Odysseus was the son of Laertes and Antikleia, Odysseus was the king of the island which was also his home, Ithaca home of the Kephallenians. Homer's epic spoke of Odysseus and his journey home after he fought in the was in Troy alongside the Greek soldiers. This was where he showered everyone his characteristics of being a leader, and a hero. Even though every hero is different and have gone through different things throughout their life, they all possess the same traits. Odysseus did also and that is what made him such a well-known hero, he embodied courage, leadership, and loyalty. The first reason why Odysseus was a hero to the people of Greece was his courage. When Odysseus lived in Ithaca with his wife and child he was not really someone you would think would be a hero. The metric system comes with its advantages, and its disadvantages.…

No two men are exactly alike, not even identical twins. Some attributes, appearance, and ideology may mirror, but no two men are alike. Differences in how the world is perceived will allow these individual to stand together, but appear far apart. The modernist method of writing allows for individuals to do exactly that, stand together but appear to be far. Writers Ernest Hemingway and T.S. Eliot demonstrated such disassociation in living deliberately in time and place of Nick and J. Alfred…

comes to making decisions. For instance, Edward Thomas, who was a poet, had an immediate connection with this poem and was inspired with Frosts work as a poet and wished he would’ve done things differently within his poetry (Voices and Visions). Readers love his poetry for the way he constructs reality within the mix of nature. Frost calls it; the sound of sense, a sentence is a sound in itself in which other sounds called words may be strung. He also says, “I alone of English writers have…

Introduction Throughout the twentieth century and beyond there has been a clear correlation between literary theory and scientific philosophical enquiry. Both have become intrinsically linked with each other, with this direct and complicated relationship being most evident in the field of poetry and poetic theory. Within this field there has been a continued but arguably fractured questioning of this enduring relationship. I propose that there have been within the modern age two main lines of…
