Paris, Texas feature film, released in 1984 and shot by a German director Wim Wenders is identified by many as one of the most characteristic and special films of this director. This feature that won Palme D’Or of the Cannes Film Festival in the year of its release, focuses on the story of Travis, a little bit weird and silent but sympathy evoking man, who had disappeared four years ago and now is seen in a lost desert area, walking towards something neither the character nor the audience knows. He is then found and brought home by his brother, who had been raising Travis’s son Hunter with his wife Anne as their own child. After hard reconnection with his son and return of the memory, Travis and Hunter leave to find Jane, Hunter’s mother. The script and story itself unite two genres: road-movie and family drama. Although the whole film is mostly consistent of people walking or driving (starting from Travis wandering throughout the desert to Travis and his son driving to find Hunter’s mother, played by stunning Nastassja Kinski), it is still supported by raising such social problems as incommunicability and finding your own self. Set in United States, this film definitely touches upon some of more European topics of alienation and loneliness of a person in the world.
