On the 18th of September 2014, I went to watch the adapted theatre production of “Private Peaceful” at the Queens theatre, Barnstable. The theatre company was called: Fiery Angel and scamp theatre; the actor for the solo role of ‘Tommo’ and 21 other roles, was characterized by Andy Daniel. He did an exceptionally good job and skilfully brought all the characters to…
On the night of September 18th, I attended the play All the Great Books. The weather was nothing but perfect, as the temperature allowed me to sit outside on the ground comfortably. Being one of the only performances I have ever attended, I was quite surprised to sit on the ground in an open field, with only a stage in front of me. Having such open audience seating made the actor/audience relationship more personal and enjoyable. To say the least, the production was not equivalent to pulling…
In the Performance Ensemble’s production of The Fiery and the Snuffy; or, As If Through Separation, the students had a opportunity to develop and workshop their own characters. Once each student created their own unique characters they brought them all together to create a single work. Overall, I found the performance interesting to watch; however, I found that at times the multiple storylines were complicated and hard to follow. There were moments that completely captivated my attention as an…

Ghost Light is a play written and performed by Shawn Wright and directed by Thomas Morgan Jones. I attended the performance at Theater New Brunswick’s Open Space theater in Fredericton, New Brunswick on Friday November 25th 2016. The one-man show told the story of a boy native from Saint John, New Brunswick. That boy was in fact the actor himself, you were transported in his world through a heartfelt and authentic performance. The play as inspirational as it could be told the audience that it is…
Individuals undergoing transitions often tend to challenge their own and society’s attitudes, beliefs and perceptions. As such, transitions can act as a catalyst for drastic changes, hence resolving social complexes and enhancing societal understanding. Evidently, ‘Billy Elliot’, film directed by Stephen Daldry shows the pursuit of Billy Elliot, a young male, behind his passion for ballet. In accompaniment, ‘Same Love,’ song by artists Macklemore (Ben Haggerty), Ryan Lewis and Mary Lambert…

This past weekend I went to view Southern Miss’s Trojan Barbie. This play was an amazing display of the range of talent in Southern Miss’s theatre department. As I stepped through the doors of Tatum Theatre, I was transported back to Ancient Troy. Along with the set, the preshow soundtrack made me excited for the play that I was about to see. When the lights dimmed and the play began, soldiers walked out from the vomitoriums and surrounded audience members. When the first solider yelled his line…
