's Shiloh directly correlates to the tone of Leroy and Norma Jean 's relationship and personal developments throughout the course of the story. To Leroy Moffitt, his hometown is a source of many fond memories, especially those of childhood. It was where he grew up, where he dated, and married Norma Jean, and was where he had his first (and only) child. These memories did not have the chance to grow tainted through continuous presence in the town, however; since he became a truck driver, he would frequently be away from his town, which gave him a more nostalgic and idealistic attitude towards the town. These overly romantic notions about his town gave him a desire to continue to stay, and to even make his mark on the land by building a log cabin for himself and his wife. This desire to stay in the town shows how immature Leroy still is mentally-he doesn 't want to leave the site of his childhood again, for fear of another accident. He feels much safer in this familiar area, being taken care of again, instead of having to be the provider for his family. This is a woman who, for all of her life so far, has been in this town and not allowed to leave. Through having a teenage pregnancy and a shotgun wedding to an absentee husband, she feels as though she hasn 't gotten a real chance to live her life. Leroy 's return just amplifies these feelings, as the true…

“I understand, just hold on, maybe something with change.” We noticed an advertisement online for an old log cabin that was for rent. The cabin could be found deep inside a fifty acre wooded lot. It was owned by a husband and wife who claimed they were both artists. The artist couple lived on the edge of a fifty acre site near a river that commonly flooded between their home and a narrow road that ran past the couple's home. The only way to get to the log cabin was a six mile hike on a…

with old, dry grass is home to a small log cabin. That small, old log cabin is the place I hike to every summer day. It is my safe place, my reading place, my relaxing place, and my favorite place. Dandelions are scattered in front of the cabin. As the wind blows, pieces of the dandelions float away. As I try to watch the pieces be swept away, I notice the characteristics of the outside of the small cabin. The cabin is old, but still mesmerizing. I imagine my Uncle David working from dawn…

a few were coughing up blood, and my best friend was spitting out pieces of his teeth from shivering so intensly. Every second, the chilled water was stabbing it’s icy dagger through the bones in my legs, but before I could think about the pain, we were moving. “GET SANDY AND GET YOUR LOGS”, my heart sank, weighing me down as I rolled in softest sand in the world, making sure I was completely covered.
