Joseph Brant was well known North American Indian political and military leader in the 18th century who is an influence figure. Brant was born in 1742 near what is now Akron, Ohio and died in 1807 Burlington, Ontario. “He was given the Mohawk name of Thayendanegea, meaning "he places two bets." “He took over the role of clan Mohawk Chief from his father after his death.
