Bruce wanted to make sure that his message was true to himself but also could appeal to voter’s. His message was I’m a public servant and I will serve the people of the 13th district as I served my community in the past. He expressed that he was born and raised in highpoint and has lived there is whole life and wants to do as much as he can to help out his community. This message defined our whole campaign. It was meant to inspire people who knew Bruce to get out and vote while also reaching independent voter’s who wanted someone who has a history of serving their community well. We really put so much focus on getting Bruce’s history of working as a county commissioner in Guilford County for eight years. Because we had this message guiding are campaign we focused on particular issues that Bruce truly cared about and that he had dealt with as an elected official. Education was an issue that we discussed heavily in are literature and in Bruce’s speeches for the public. This was meant to reach independent voter’s and our core democratic voter’s. We framed education as a key issue that effects everything in a community, lack of education can lead to economic issues and lack of job growth.
