Her best friend Penny Pingleton (Amanda Bynes) made a plan to get her into the show. Link Larkin (Zac Efron) was the lead male in “The Corny Collins Show.” Seaweed (Elijah Kelley) was a dancer for “The Corny Collins” Negro Day specials; he was also Penny's love interest. It also focuses on segregation in Baltimore during this time.
