L.L. Bean, born Leon Leonwood Bean was an American entrepreneur in the 20th century. He was born on October 13th, 1872 in Greenwood, Maine. Bean showed interest in business from a young age, when he was just nine years old, he assisted his father in running a small-business in which sold animal traps. Bean's parents died four days apart when Bean was twelve years old. He subsequently moved to South Paris, Maine to stay with family.
