The problem initiated right when the soda ban was done in an incorrect manner. Many times when decisions are made to only one’s benefit yet, not chosen by the majority of the people affected, it triggers the humans mindset making them react in a non supportable way. Although the soda ban may prevent harsh conditions, it's better off if there's a stop to it. Consumers are losing their liberty, finding their ways around and not believing the benefits. The soda ban isn't’ a good idea because it narrows down the consumer’s thought of freedom. According to “Ban the Ban”, stone states “...We are a country built on freedom. That includes basic freedoms like what you are going to drink while watching a movie, and eating what will soon be unbuttered and unsalted popcorn, according to Mayor Bloomberg” (Stone,287). This one action that already hasn’t been made by the people, affects their thinking on future choices. This now puts them in an uncomfortable where they’re always doubting whether or not they’ll still be able to make their own decisions. Klein states in her opinion piece, “The intentions of New York Mayor R Bloomberg may be laudable , but it's wrong for one man, even an elected official and even a well- meaning one at that, to dictate people how big a cup of sugary soda they’re allowed.” (Klein 288).
