There have been many more hoaxes with the main goal of fame and money. Although some scientists think that there is a family of giant eels or Greenland Sharks no one has successful proof in saying the Monster exists. Part of the huge amounts of tourism is due to how no one knows the truth, that it a mystery, this is perhaps the main significance of the loch Ness monster. Another significance of this mystery is how many important people have claimed to have encountered this beast, for example in 565 AD St. Columba claimed to have called off Nessie from attacking a monk, with the famous shout from St. Columba “turn back ye beastie and touch no man”, so the legend goes no one has ever been attacked since then. The significance following this accusation must have created a huge tourist industry allowing people who live around the Loch great business and high profits. In 1933 a road, the A82, was even built in order to arise Nessie from the depths of the Loch. The idea behind this was that the loud drilling noises of making the road would disturb the monster. This road also meant easy access to and around the Loch creating many more visitors.
