    The Grosse Pointe Public Library is in Grosse Pointe, Michigan and is a famous piece of architecture created by Marcel Breuer. This building diverges from his usual design style, in that this interior caters to the preservation of the books. The facades are designed in such a way that allows the light to shine in certain spots. The front façade of the building has large vertical windows and is slightly slanted forward to allow for shading certain times of the day. In the afternoon the front façade is lit with ambient lighting while the back of the building is well lit. The rear façade has well-spaced vertical slots for the windows to allow for a small amount of natural lighting to the spaces that contain books. The windows on the right rear of the building have a shading device that allows little to no light in the building. The rest of the windows do not have a shading device attached to the window due to the interior placement of the books. There is an area on the right rear of the building that is for business purposes only. On the exterior of the building, the business area has a porch with an overhang to allow for shading within the area. Although the porch is brick, the porch, the floor itself is not concrete but contracted of stone. The interior of the library has rows of horizontal lights that are in a checkered pattern.
