Periods of very old temperatures when part of the earth was covered in huge ice glaciers, there was a lower sea level which exposed a land strip of land bridge which people from Asia traveled on to reach America

Early people were nomads so they followed their food source and traveled from place to place, there are 2 theory's that they traveled on a land bridge from Siberia to Alaska, or they traveled by boat

Building of Tenochtitlan

Aztec settlement, one of the greatest settlements in America, building was directed by priests and nobles, was the largest city in America, served as a center of trade

October 12 1492, present day the Caribbean islands, called the local people Indians because he thought he reached India

Defeat of Aztecs

Hernan Cortes conquered the Aztec when he came to Mexico looking for glory and gold, Montezuma was welcoming but the spanish took advantage of that and captured him made Montezuma give him gold later when the spanish left they planned to attack the Aztec again they came back destroyed the capital in 1521

Defeat of Incas

Francisco Pizarro heard that the Incan’s were wealthy so he destroyed most of the army


captured the ruler without the Incan’s obeying their rulers commands they weren't able to fight effectively they were later taken over

Search for the Northwest Passage

England sent John Cabot to search for a northern route to Asia, France hired Giovanni da Verranzano for the same purpose, and the French sent Jaques Cartier. The Netherlands hired Henry Hudson to explore instead of the passage he founded Hudson Bay

Off the coast of NC, Raleigh sent about 100 men to settle there, he returned it was completely deserted, the only clue was Croatoan written on a gate post, never found the colonists

Landing of the Mayflower

Landed on Plymouth, first settlement was Cape Cod

King Philip’s War

King Philip was a Wampanoag chief who wanted to stop the settlers from moving onto there land the war began after the natives were accused of murder

Bacon’s Rebellion

Bacon led the angry westerners in attacks on Native American villages he also marched into Jamestown and set fire to the capital

Cause was that Jon Edwards George Whitefield and others preach of the need for a revival of religious belief, sweetness of religion. The effects were that there were new religious groups, better education, all people are equal

French and Indian War

sides the French and the British, most fought for the British but the Iroquois joined them to keep them off their lands some married and they are good trade partners

The Proclamation of 1763

King George the third declared the Appalachian Mts were temporary western boundary for the colonies, this angered the speculators because they owned land passes the mountains
