When states seek an earlier date for their primary election
Closed Primary
a primary election in which only registered members of a particular political party can vote.
Open Primary

Some factors that affect party identification are race, gender, religious beliefs, education, their economic situations, and having personal knowledge about the candidates.

a type of political party organization that relies heavily on material inducements, such as patronage, to win votes and to govern.
Gerrymandering
Manipulate the boundaries of (an electoral constituency) so as to favor one party or class.
Free Rider Problem
those who consume more than their fair share of a resource, or shoulder less than a fair share of the costs of its production.
Becomes a problem when a public good is under or non produced.
