What are the organelles in a Plant Cell? |
Nucleus - Contains the genetic material that controls activities in the cell Cytoplasm - Gel-Like substance where most of the chemical reactions take place. It contains enzymes which help speed up reactions Cell Membrane - Holds the cell together and contains what goes in and out Mitochondria - Where most of the reactions for aerobic respiration take place. It transfers energy that the cell needs to work. Ribosomes - These are where proteins are made in the cell Rigid Cell Wall - Made of Cellulose, It supports and strengthens the cell Permanent Vacuole - Contains cell sap, a weak solution of sugar and salts. Chloroplasts - These are where photosynthesis occurs which makes food for the plant. They contain a green substance called chlorophyll which absorbs the light needed for photosynthesis |

How is genetic material found in eukaryotic cells? |
Genetic material is found in the nucleus of a eukaryotic cell. |
|
How is genetic material found in Prokaryotic cells? |
Prokaryotic cells don't have a true membrane so they have a single circular strand of DNA that floats freely in the cytoplasm they may also have small rings of DNA called plasmids |
|
What is cell differentiation? |
Differentiation is the process by which a cell changes to become specialised for its job. As cells change, they develop different subcellular structures and turn into different types of cells. This allows them to carry out specific functions. Most differentiation occurs as an organics develops. In animal cells the ability to differentiate is lost at an early stage. Most plant cells do not lose the ability |
|
What is an organ? |
a part of an organism which is typically self-contained and has a specific vital function like the heart which is vital to live |
|
What is an organism? |
An individual plant, animal or single celled life form. |
|
What is the difference between electron microscopes and light microscopes? |
Electron microscopes are very expensive but allow you to magnify more and see the cell in more detail. A light microscope is more cost effective but the detail isn't as good on a light microscope |
|
What is a cell? |
A basic structural, functional, and biological unit of all known living organisms. A cell is the smallest unit of life. Cells are often called the "building blocks of life". |
|
What is a tissue? |
any of the distinct types of material of which animals or plants are made, consisting of specialized cells and their products |
