What are the differences between CC data and Pro Tools automation?
|
1. CC data is recorded just as MIDI is, not in dedicated automation recording modes
2. during a record pass, CC data can only be recorded from a MIDI controller, not by being moved 3. CC data is written in regions, each Edit playlist has its own CC graphs for each parameter; only one automation playlist exists per each automatable parameter on a track 4. CC graphs are static between breakpoints, creating a stepped graph; automation is vector based, parameters move smoothly between breakpoints 5. CC data has lower accuracy and timing accuracy than automation 6. CC parameters are not locked to the graph at all times, only where data exists (parameter can be moved freely outside of recorded areas) |
