Definition: Alliteration is the repetition of consonant sounds at the start of a word.

Definition: Assonance is the repetition of a vowel sound. It is different from rhyme as it does not need to be at the end of each line.


Example: The rain in Spain falls mainly in the plains.

Onomatopoeia
