Mediatoren:Een mediator is een statistische variabele die de relatie tussen twee andere variabelen verklaart. Een voorbeeld: er is een samenhang tussen het ervaren van een positieve band met de leerkracht en de leerprestaties van kinderen. Een verklaring hiervoor is dat kinderen zich meer inzetten voor school als zij een goede band met de leerkracht ervaren. Schoolinzet is dan de mediator die het verband tussen de leerkracht-leerling relatie en goede schoolprestaties verklaart. Hoe? attitude? waarom sekse? en moderatoren: relatie tussen twee (waar, wanneer)Een moderator is een statistische variabele die de relatie tussen twee andere variabelen verandert. Indien het verband tussen twee variabelen X en Y wordt beïnvloed door de karakteristieken van een andere variabele Z, wordt deze laatste als moderator beschouwd. Zo is leeftijd bijvoorbeeld een moderator in de relatie tussen klantentevredenheid en klantentrouw: bij oudere mensen leidt grotere tevredenheid tot grotere trouw, bij jongeren is dit veel minder het geval. Leeftijd is een concept dat de relatie tussen variabelen kan beïnvloeden, maar het kan nooit een mediator zijn, omdat het niet op een andere variabele kan inwerken. |
