Insert round into feeder female link first. Push across first pawl. Move feed slide assy to left. Close cover. |

Switch safety to FIRE position
Grab the charger handles and press locks up and in. Rotate charger handles down and pull to the rear. Push charger handles forward. Pull trigger, this loads round into bolt face. Pull charging handles back. Put weapon on SAFE. |

|
failure of the gun to function properly. It will fire but not correctly.

Sluggish Operation....
|
Usually because operator failed to clean and lubricate.
|

Runaway Gun.....
|
Gun continues to fire after trigger is released. Firing is uncontrolled. Caused by worn parts or short recoil.

FREE GUN
|
Weapon pointed down range during a RUNAWAY. Letting remaining rounds fire off if near the end of the belt.

|
Round is fired before being fully seated in the chamber. Gunner should see smoke, a flash or powder blowback from the bottom of the gun..

Stoppages
|
Any interruption in the cycle of operation caused by faulty action of the weapon or defective ammo. Gun STOPS FIRING. A stoppage must be cleared quickly by IA.

Clear area of personnel.
Wait 10 seconds Pull bolt to the rear-catch round as ejected. Push charger handles forward and up. FIRE If nothing, place on S Wait 10 seconds. Pull bolt to rear-catch round. Open cover, unload and clear. |

Remedial Action
|
Used to investigate cause of stoppage when IA is unsuccessful. It may require disassembly of the weapon and replacement parts to correct the problem.
