Thermostat |
Thermostat located between engine and radiator where the upper radiator hose meets engine. Once it detects coolant has reached proper temp after circulating through water jackets it opens and allows mixture to flow back to the radiator to be cooled |
Water pump |
Mounts to front engine and circulates coolant mixture whenever the engine is running |
Cooling fan |
Typically located behind the radiator and it’s purpose is to pull air across the radiator to cool the mixture in the radiator |
Fan shroud |
Fan is surrounded by this which protects the fan and assist in directing air through the radiator |
Lower radiator hose |
Connects the water pump to the radiator and pushes the mixture through passages called water jackets that surround the engines cylinders |
Radiator core |
? |
Upper radiator hose |
Mixture travels from the upper hose to radiator |
Coolant reservoir/recovery tank |
Excess coolant is forced into the reservoir tank |
Radiator cap |
Keeps system pressurized and acts as a release valve when the system reaches its maximum pressure point |
