Describe how Gideon v. Wainwright and Argersinger v. Hamlin shaped the 6th amendments right to counsel

Gideon made it clear that any person that is to poor to to hire a lawyer, cannot be assured a fair trial unless counsel is provided . Argersinger made it possible to be represented by counsel no matter how serious the offense is. And a defendant may not be put in jail unless he was represented by a attorney.

If a defendant has the representation of a public defender instead of a private attorney, is there likely to be a difference in the chance that he will be convicted? Explain your answer

It is thought that public defenders are less effective..not true. Because criminal defense is all they focus on. They are familiar with procedure, they see the same prosecutors and judges throughout the day,...Also have investigators and funds budgeted for expenses for expert witnesses.
