Naval commanders at Keil decided to send their ships out to fight the British in one last suicidal; bid. Sailors mutinied.
26 October - 5 Novermber
The Kaiser and his Government did not try to send the army to crush the Sailors' mutiny. It was soon followed bu strikes and demonstrarions against the war and the Kaiser - all over Germany
6 November
Soldiers' and Workers' councils had taken control in many cities. Their aim was to end the war but some politicians thought that Germany was in danger of revolution
7 November
Social democrats sent an ultimatum to the Kaiser to abdicate
9 November
General strike in Berlin. Armed workers and soldiers roamed the streets. Social Democrats were afraid that the extremists would gain control of the 'revolution'. Ebert announced the Kaiser's abdication and he became the Chancellor
10 November
Kaiser Wilhelm fled to Holland
11 November
An armistice was agreed between Germany and the Allies
