Key tensions of the Potsdam conference (1945)?
1) Roosevelt and Churchill were replaced by Truman and Atlee, so trust previously built was gone.
2) Truman delayed meeting for atomic bomb on Japan, which Stalin wasn't told about, and he felt betrayed.
3) USSR wanted to impose heavy reparations but GB & USA wanted to rebuild Germany.

1) Truman found that USSR couldn't wage war so thought they were planning to spread communism
2) Europe was very poor and devastated, so it was appealing
3) Truman set a policy to give aid and stop spread.

1) USA wanted to protect the world
2) Reversed Isolationism policy
3) Ended Grand Alliance and ensured opposition
Key features of the Marshall Plan? (1947)
1) Truman planned to beat communism through military as well as economic force.
2) $13 billion to rebuild economies so Communism is less attractive.
Key features of Stalin's Satellite States?
1) Stalin set them up as response to the Marshall aid
2) USA was buying influence in Europe and he wanted to prevent this by taking control of them
