Big
Big is much more common than large the word large is a little more former but in many sentences it makes no difference.
Large
We tend to use large with drinks eyes a large coffee large soda as well as we'd clothing size small medium and large.
large is usually used with word referring to a statistic and measurement such as quantity number amount increase and proportion we say a large number of the student enrolled in the course.
we also use the expression largest call and smaller scope to refer to the size of preparation for example defective being larger scale production of automotive parts.
there are a number of collocation in which we must use big and we cannot use large include situation and event for example a big accomplished a big decision a big disappointment a big fela a big improvement a big mistake and a big surprise you can also use the informal expression big brother and big sister to refer to a sibling who is older than you.
Tall and short
the words tall in short are used for physical objects and refer to the total heat from the bottom to the top so we talked about the tall building tall trees and the tall man or woman.
High and low
The words high and low refers to distance above the ground so we say that an airplane is flying 10000 feet high or that's and apple is on a low branch of a tree.
