What is a Home Safety Visit?

Engage with residents and educate them on hazards and risks which they may encounter at home by offering advice, creating escape plans and fitting smoke alarms

What is Grouped Risk Visiting?

A visit to targeted areas based history of previous fires, potential deliberate fires, incidents and other factors

What is Quick Strike or Reassurance Visit

After a recent incident has occurred, several reactive activities would be carried out like;


• door to door reassurance visits


• home fire safety visits


• handout of leaflets

What is Safeguarding referral and how to make a referral?

Raising concerns by a member of the LFB staff where there is concern there is abuse or risk of abuse to an adult or child


You make a referral by;


• calling 999


• speaking with officer of the day (OOD) within 4 hours of an immediate risk and 24 hours for anything else

What is a Serious Outstanding Risk (SOR) and how to make a referral

A situation which is not resolved through a Home Safety Fire Visit which is not considered an immediate safeguarding risk


Two categories:


• a HFSV and smoke alarm fitting is not sufficient to reduce the risk of an individual


* Raise with Borough Commander *



• welfare referral (no heating, lighting, no food, vermin infestations, neglect of property, broken windows etc)


* Raise with Watch Manager *
