Renewal of rundwn areas such as Harlem and East Vancouver. helps to make it a nicer neigbourhood

Withdrawl of govt from social scene putting more weight on the private sector. reduction of the welfare state

The diminishing proportion of industrial activity in the city: which is being replaced with the service and science sectors
Fordist Keynesian
reliance on govt intervention IE welfare state & demand stimulation. End of WW2-1970's
