The Negligent Operator Treatment System (NOTS) is based on
|
negligent operator points and consists of a computer generated series of warnings letter and progressive sanctions against the driving privilege.

If you get 4 points in 12 months
|
you will lose your DL, a violation received in a commercial vehicle carries 1.5 the point count normally accessed.

Vandalism/Graffiti - All ages
|
California law allows the courts to suspend the drivers license for up to two years if a person convicted of engaging in vandalism, including graffiti, If you are convicted and do not have your DL, the courts can delay the issuance of your DL for up to three years from the date you are legally eligible to drive.
|
|
A person convicted of driving recklessly or engaging in a speed contact which caused bodily injury to another person is subject to
|
imprisonment in a county jail or state prison for a minimum of 30 days to 6 months, a fine ranging from 220-1000 or both fine and imprisonment.

Traffic Violator School
|
When a driver is cited for a one point traffic violation, the judge may offer the driver the opportunity to attend a Traffic Violator School. Drivers who do not have a commercial DL may participate once in any 18 month period to have a citation masked from their driving records. Completion of this course is reported electronically to the court of the school. Paper completion certificates are no longer used for reporting purposes, however the student will receive a completion receipt form the school.

DMV retains information on every collision reported to the DMV by
|
Law enforcement, unless the reporting officer states another person was at fault
You or another party involved in the collision, if any one person have over $750 in damages, or if anyone is injured or dies. It does not matter who caused the collision, the DMV must keep this on record. |

If you are caught with an alcoholic beverate in your vehicle
|
the vehicle may be impounded for up to 30 days. The court may fine you up to 1000 dollars and either suspend your driving privilege for one year or require the DMV to delay the issuance of your first DL for up to one year if you are not already licensed.
