1) Get in proper top of guard posture

6) Grab opponent's upper shoulder / lower neck on opposite side


7) Grab butt with other hand


8) Bring opponent's knee to his nose


9) Push legs out and sink into side control

Arm bar from under guard

1) Grab opponent arm at elbow with opposite arm


2) Push off with leg to turn while firmly placing other leg into armpit


3) Pull down head or neck with arm as you bring other leg over head.


4) Hold thumb up, pull heels to butt, lift butt

Triangle from under guard

1) Push arm under leg (or they pull it under to avoid armbar)


2) Make sure you don't lose the other arm


3) Put leg over shoulder and other leg into armpit in one movement

2) Sit up and thread other arm around your arm. Grab your own wrist.

1) Grip outside of hand if it is on your side

Passing Guard 3 (Standing to Under Legs)

1) Bring both hands underneath opponent's legs and hook around upper thighs, if you can't do that, consider bringing knee over.


2) Slide him up, bringing his butt to your chest


3) Lock hands together palm to palm


4) Keep weight on and walk to one side


5) Squeeze leg over face using shoulder


6) Bring arm underneath opponent's neck and shoulder


7) Push your shoulder into opponent's face with some weight.

Passing Guard 4 (Standing with knee over)

1) Stand up


2) Open guard with elbow


3) If you can bring knee over, do so. Otherwise bring both arms under.


4) With knee over, bring shoulder down underneath knee


5) Bring that leg off of shoulder (but don't let go of it) and bring other arm under opponent's neck.


6) Bring shoulder down into opponent's face, pressing face away from you.


7) Bring far leg over to opponent's side, keeping the leg hooked


8) Bring that knee in and bring other leg over

Bottom of side control position

1) One arm on hip


2) Other arm under armpit


3) Far leg knee up


4) Near leg has foot on other knee

Transition Side to Mount

1) Butt up


2) Slide down again with hips turned away, leg underneath you


3) Bring other knee over opponent, pushing legs away with your elbow


4) If opponent resists with arm, hook it with your arm


Otherwise, lower and bring hand under leg and over other leg, then drive.


5) Finish putting leg over, bring arms out

1) Put heels to butt. Jolt opponent up and turn to side - butt away from opponent.


2) Sprawl out and grab under opponents leg with both hands.

1) If he's pushing you off and his arm is between yours


2) Put both arms in center of opponent's chest hands on top of each other, one arm over the arm you're taking
