What happens if the ailerons jam?

Using the FO's control wheel roll control using flight spoilers only. The ailerons and the captain's control wheel are INOPERATIVE

Force applied to the captain's control wheel will control the ailerons. Spoiler mixing and the FO control Column will be inoperative.

How is the airplane rolled?

Combination of ailerons and 4 flight spoilers

With loss of both Hydraulic systems (manual reversion) can elevator force be applied?

Yes, manually by crew using control column. More force is required

If the control column jams can they be separated?

Yes, whichever column breaks free after the manoeuvre will be the operable control column. Less effectiveness is a result but stabiliser trim is available

Is elevator feel given to pilots?

Yes the elevator feel system sends simulated aerodynamic forces to the control column using the elevator feel and centering unit

Is the Mach trim system automatic and what does it do?

Yes

It automatically adjusts elevators above Mach .615 to avoid Mach tuck

LE slats extend to the extended position

How do the flaps and slats extend when the handle is moved beyond position 5?

TE flaps extend to commanded position AND;

LE Flaps will stay in fully extended position

Full extended

What flaps does load relief affect and when is it armed?

Flaps 30/40 and only TE Flaps

How do you know flap load relief is occurring?

FLAP LOAD RELIEF is illuminated and the flap indicator will show the position of the flaps

If the flaps are set to 30 what setting will LOAD RELIEF retract the flaps to if needed?

Flaps 25

When are Autoslats armed?

Positions 1,2,5 (because the LE slats are only in the extend position) this allows them to fully extend prior to stick activation

Will Autoslats retract after activation?

Yes if the airplane attitude is reduced below the stall critical angle

Is the Alternate flaps system Electric or Hydraulic?

Both, leading edge devices are Hydraulic and trailing edge Electric

Can LE devices be retracted when using the standby system?

No

What flap protections are there?

Asymmetry

Skew Detection & Protection (flaps not operating at the same rate)

Uncommanded Motion

Load Relief

During cruise to prevent uncommanded motion what does the FSEU do?

The FSEU maintains pressure on the retract lines and depressurizes the extend and full extend lines

To complete the STALL WARNING TEST, how long must AC transfer busses be powered for?

4 minutes

Explain the LE Devices panel on the overhead panel

Yellow - transit

Green - LE flaps fully extended, LE Slats in extend

Green - LE Slats fully extended position

Test - illuminates lights

When the STBY RUD ON light illuminates what has happened?

The SRSOV (standby rudder SOV) has successfully opened. Usually when the Standby pump has been activated manually or automatically

Does the alternate flaps system extend TE flaps? If so what is different about how the TE flaps are extended VS leading edge devices?

TE flaps are extended using seperate electrical motor where the LE Devices are extended using the standby Hydraulic motor. Both are controlled using the same switch. LE devices will go to the fully extended position

Is there a speed restriction when using the Alternate flaps?

Yes, 230 knots (placarded below the gear)

What does the speed trim system do?

Automatically trims to return the airplane to its manual trim position the pilot set with autopilot not engaged

What does the STAB TRIM OVRD switch do?

It allows the airplane to be trimmed in an opposite direction to how the control Column is being manipulated

When does the LE FLAPS TRANSIT light illuminate? (4)

Any LE device in transit

LE device not in correct position with respect to TE flap

A LE Slat skew condition exists (2-7)

During alternate flap extension until LE devices are fully extended and TE flaps reach 10

When does the LE FLAPS EXT light illuminate?

All LE Flaps extended LE slats in extend position (flap lever 1,2,5)

LE devices fully extended

What is the difference between flap skew and flap assymetry?

Skew: The flap is twisting (inboard end of flap does not align with the outboard end)

Assymetry: flap position on one wing doesn't match the position of the same flap on the opposite wing

How will a skew condition be shown on the flap indicator?

One pointer will be 15 degrees apart from the other pointer

What does FSEU stand for?

Flap slat electronic unit

What does the Flap Indicator display?

Position of the TRAILING EDGE FLAPS ONLY.

Also displays the skew (15 degree split between needles) or assymetry condition (flap doesn't match opposite flap position)

Apart from the flap indicator how else will you know a flap assymetry has occurred?

An uncommanded roll occurs when the flaps change position

How is the stabilizer powered?

Electrically

What is the green band on the Stabilizer trim indicator?

The takeoff green band indication

Is there any stall protection?

Yes, the pressure on the control column doubles as aircraft AoA approaches stall. The speed trim system also trims the stabilizer nose down in addition to Autoslats and AT wakeup

If only the B system FLT CONTROL switch is moved to STBY RUD can the yaw damper switch be moved to on?

No.

When does speedbrake deployment occur if the lever was in the DOWN detent?

With the speedbrake lever in the down position AND;
