What are the four basic types of tissues?
Epithelial. Connective. Muscular. Nervous.
Epithelial Tissue
covers the body surfaces and lines hollow organs, body cavities and ducts. It forms glands.
Connective Tissue
protects and supports the body and its organs. Different types of connective tissue bind organs together, store energy as fat, and provide immunity.
Muscular Tissue
generates the physical force needed to move body structures and generate body heat.
Nervous Tissue
Detects changes in conditions inside and outside the body and responds by activating muscular contractions.
Cell junctions
are contact points between the plasma membranes of the tissue cells.
