Or are we all born with both instincts but are taught to be good, and hide the evil we are born with? Humans I think , are born with both good and evil. As the book Lord of the Flies demonstrates,young school boys from England, stranded on an island, brings out the best and worst of them. From keeping order, to becoming wild savages.

It shows anyone can change from what they were taught. When we were growing up, most of us were taught our manners. Say please and thank you, open the door for the person behind you, and behave well. We have been taught this. Others may have grown up with other circumstances that bring out the evil in them. Like a divorced family at a young age, a loss, poverty. Some children are brought up differently than others. It's what one you choose to act on. You could be taught to be good, but want to be evil. Or be evil, and want to be good. It's the classic story plot for some books, movies ect. Life changing events, sometimes change your view on life and effect if you are good or evil. Humans are indeed both good and evil, but sometimes the evil tries to overpower the good in us.
The question still truly remains. Are humans naturally good? Or evil? With both born in us, we a taught as children to hide the bad and bring out the good in all of us. Certain life experiences can change your outlook on life, from what you may have learned as a kid. “Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men.
