Worldview is also a spiritual phenomenon. Meaning that everyone has some sort of spiritual influence on their worldview. This influence can be either from God or an idol made out to be a god but there is some spiritual drive to why a person holds their worldview belief. In order to have a worldview there must be a foundation. This foundation can come from the cultural background of a person, can come from one’s family, it can also come from the government. There are multiple influences that create a foundation for a worldview. The last thing is that a worldview can be evaluated. A way to evaluate a worldview is to look at four questions, who am I, where am I, what’s wrong, and what is the remedy or solution? In the following paragraphs the Bible will be used to answer these four questions to evaluate the biblical worldview. “When these questions have been answered, that is, when one’s faith is settled, then one can begin to see reality in some sensible pattern” (35). After understanding the basics of a worldview one can then can ask three more questions to test the validity of a worldview. Therefore, they are given the choice to serve him allowing sin to creep into their lives. Sin caused the fall of humankind. The fall being the second major event in the Bible answers the question of what’s wrong? Humans have the decision to “either serve the Lord and obey his will, or practice idolatry in disobedience” (61). The decision that people have made is what is wrong, they have decided to choose disobedience through idolatry. “Idolatry is portrayed in the Bible not as merely one sin among many, but as the epitome of sin. It is the central act of disobedience which disrupts Yahweh’s rule over human life” (63). An example of how idolatry is the epitome of sin is shown when Adam and Eve decide that eating the fruit from the tree of knowledge and good and evil was more important than listening to Gods one rule. They put themselves before God, autonomy, making themselves an idol before God. This leads to how humans have marred the image of God. Humans continue to cultivate the earth but they are doing it without honoring God. But, instead are doing it to honor themselves and to see how successful they can be. When humans choose the disobedience path of life they are “going against the grain of life, and being contradicting the way things were meant to be. They contradict their very personhood” (70).
