The atomic bomb was built and the United States sent out two to cities in Japan that destroyed more than anyone expected, this was called the “Manhattan Project”. Because America had created this ‘weapon of mass destruction’ it was now in the lead in being the most powerful country. The U.S.S.R was determined to learn the secret to making Atomic weapons, this is how the Cold War began. the Cold War was not a ‘real’ war for there were more indirect notions between the United States and the Soviet Union, this particular war was more or less an arms race to see who could build the best bomb. The development of the Central Intelligence of America or C.I.A. was made to gather information and spy on other growing nations with nuclear weapons but mainly on U.S.S.R for they had found a way to be one step behind America. Some of the fallout from Czar got picked up into the wind and carried into the atmosphere and people all over the world were experiencing side effects. This was only the beginning of what was to come from the Cold War which was to last until 1991. The Cold War and World War II helped the United States be a superpower and was able to build jobs for many people around the country, but these factor may have made America a great nation but like every great nation it must have a down fall and the current time period would be just that. The United States is not as great or powerful as it would like to think it was, hopefully with the new generation that is in college and coming generation can actually rebuild America to obtain the pride it once
