The World Food Programme indicates that school meals will assist children in becoming healthy and productive adults. If children received some food at school, the long term effects of hunger would be lowered. By increasing a hungry child’s nutritional intake, it allows for better brain development, which in turn increases a child’s ability to learn. The family has to have enough income to provide the right amount of food for their families. However, the head of the household has to have a job to have income for the family to have food. The world today has more than 200 million people unemployed, which means little to no income for the family (Pathe). If people were provided good employment people would be able to support their families with food, which means the world hunger numbers would drop tremendously. This causes people to have to spend money on the house payments and other important payments, leaving a minimal amount, if any, money left over for food. If people had their incomes increased this would allow them enough money to support their families with food, which also means the amount of world hunger would be reduced. It is difficult to determine if hunger leads to poverty or poverty leads to hunger, but it is certainly tied together
