Woonsocket High School Research Paper

When I first entered high school, I was terrified, but a little excited. The idea of being surrounded by a bunch of strangers, and being in a new environment made me tremble. When my first day of high school finally came, I realized that it was a much different experience than I expected. There were no teachers really guiding you around, the only person you could depend on was yourself. I learned that more and more everyday. If it wasn’t for high school, I’d be the same old kid that I was in middle school. I used to think that everything in life came easy, helping the out the community was a waste of time, and high school would never teach me anything useful. My freshman year, I decided to play soccer because I enjoyed it so much in gym. Soccer for the high school was way more difficult. Soccer taught me physical struggle but it also showed me how diverse Woonsocket was. There's a lot of people on the team with different backgrounds and that fascinates me. After the soccer season is over I participate in extracurricular activities. The one that has helped me the most was the National Honor Society. Due to my academic achievements, I became a member of the National Honor Society. A requirement for the society is 4 hours of community service per semester. Since I am a Buddhist, the first thing that popped into my head was going to the Lao Wat and helping out there, So once a month, I went with my grandfather to help. I would do anything they needed me to do. Organize food, yard work, setup furniture, clean dishes. Helping out there also gave me a better understanding of my roots. I learned more about buddhism, my family and the hardships they faced when they came to
